October 2026 | Project update
Bioenergy Hub Opportunity
Isis Central Sugar Mill is investigating the potential for a Bioenergy Hub that could support the Mill's long-term sustainability and create new opportunities for the region. The work considers how existing mill infrastructure, sugarcane by-products and other agricultural resources might support renewable energy and low-carbon fuels.
Progress to date
- ICSM has acquired the Mill's co-generation station.
- Mill efficiency studies are underway.
- Licella has completed the Pre-FEED phase of Project Swift.
- LMS Energy's bioenergy assessment is underway.
Licella - Project Swift
Licella and ICSM are assessing a proposed biorefinery at the Mill to convert biomass residues into low-carbon liquid fuels, including renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel. Project Swift has completed preliminary front-end engineering work (Pre-FEED); further engineering and feasibility assessment is proposed before any investment decision.
LMS Energy - Bioenergy Project
ICSM and LMS Energy are investigating a potential facility to convert sugar-industry by-products and other locally available organic residues into biogas and biomethane. The concept also includes the potential production of biofertiliser.
